Our Services

We offer a number of intellectual property services for inventors, startups and technology entrepreneurs.  Our initial advice is free, so if you have a question about our services, or are unsure how to go about protecting your idea, please do pick up the phone or drop us a line.

We have a number of fixed-price services that are exclusively available through our website.  These include patent searching and trade mark searching, our Startup IP Check, our IP Check for Technology Entrepreneurs and our new trade mark filing service.  You can read more about these below.

Our UK patent attorneys are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and subject to the Rules of Professional Conduct.   Our European Patent Attorneys are members of the European Patent Institute (epi) and subject to the epi Code of Conduct. The Patent Factory  is regulated by the Intellectual Property Regulation Board.  We are therefore obliged to keep confidential any information provided to us.

Snapshot

Our Snapshot search service is geared to help inventors in the early stages of an invention, to take a look at whether the idea has been done before, and to offer professional advice from a UK and European Patent Attorney about how best to protect the idea.

We take a look at whether your invention exists in patent literature, and send you an electronic report of any patents found along with our professional opinion about how best to protect your invention.  The report will be delivered to your email inbox within 5 working days.  Click here to read more about our Snapshot service, and click here to view a sample Snapshot report.

PatentPlus

PatentPlus is our next stage patent searching service for people with an invention who want to know whether it is patentable.  We delve deeper into the prior art, and answer any questions that have arisen from Snapshot, or that have resulted from your own research.  We explore possible infringement issues and carry out patent status checks where necessary.  Ultimately, one of our Patent Attorneys offers you their professional opinion about how best to protect your invention.

StartUp IP Check

We offer this service to help you to ensure that your business is IP savvy.  We assess your business operations and propose ways and means that you must consider to protect your new venture.  We work through the different types of intellectual property rights that are available to you, and put together a plan of action to protect your startup business from copycats.

UK Trade Mark Application

We hear from a number of people that have registered their company name at Companies House, and secured suitable domains, but they’ve forgotten about the other piece of the jigsaw that is registering their trade mark.  As part of this service, we check the UK Trade Marks Registry to see if anyone is using a similar or identical name within the same classes of goods and services that you require protection.

We file a UK trade mark application on your behalf with the UK Intellectual Property Office.  *Please note that our charges do not include the Official Fees for filing payable to the UK IPO.  These fees are around £200 to protect the trade mark in one class, and £50 for each additional class.  If you are trading outside of the UK, and wish to seek protection of your trade mark in further territories, please contact us with your requirements.
